Vietnam: Ministry wants to slash electricity and gasoline prices by 10-30%
The Ministry of Planning and Investment has asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to consider reducing the prices for electricity and gasoline by 10-30%.
The proposal was made at the Prime Minister’s nationwide online conference with the business community and localities on solutions to support businesses in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic on September 26.
At the conference, the Ministry of Planning and Investment said that it had submitted to the Government for promulgation a Resolution on supporting businesses, cooperatives and household businesses affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
The resolution includes 59 tasks and solutions divided into four main groups, including: 21 solutions related to amending and promulgating policies and legal documents; 38 solutions related to guidance, strong implementation of policies and solutions to support businesses; and 18 tasks to be completed in September 2021.
So far, the Vietnamese government has issued many policies and programs to support pandemic-hit businesses and people.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment is urgently developing a sustainable economic recovery program up to 2023, which consists of solutions to support businesses to recover; grant concessional loans through the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund; and support businesses to conduct in the 2021-2025 period.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment asked the Ministry of Health to soon issue guidance on the roadmap to return to the new normal state to create favorable conditions for enterprises to organize production and business as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade continue to monitor, evaluate and consider a plan to reduce the cost of essential services such as electricity and gasoline by 10-30%.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor was requested to soon complete the reduction of trade union fee exemption for union members at enterprises and cooperatives affected by the Covid-19 epidemic in 2021 and 2022.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment proposed that local governments urgently develop and announce a plan to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic and economic recovery and a plan to reopen the economy. Localities also need to study and propose solutions to build a sustainable economic recovery program until 2023.
