Thailand: Bubble and seal efforts at CPF win plaudits

Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CPF) has won plaudits from the Public Health Ministry for its successful implementation of the bubble and seal measure, in line with the government’s aim to safeguard factory workers and communities against Covid-19 infections.

Sathit Pitutecha, deputy public health minister, praised the company for correct implementation of public health measures concerning employees and the workplace during a recent trip to a CPF plant.

CPF exceeded standards on some measures and was exemplary in situation management, particularly the speedy and efficient implementation of the bubble and seal measure, he said.

The ministry launched the bubble and seal measure during the third wave. It is designed to prevent infections at large factories.

Under the measure, while those who are infected receive medical treatment at field hospitals, other workers with negative test results are separated from at risk groups.

Workers who test positive are transported to accommodation provided to reduce the risk of infection during the journey. No cross-group work is undertaken and workers are prohibited from venturing out of the workplace or accommodation provided to control infections quickly and allow operations to continue uninterrupted.

Bubble and seal won support from various organisations to ensure uninterrupted production.

Prasit Boondoungprasert, chief executive of CPF, said the outbreak has pressured people and the economy.

“We strictly followed the government’s measures to keep our workers safe and ensure no infections at our premises. Our goal is to keep our supply chain safe from the disease so we can continue producing safe food to satisfy demand,” he said.

Mr Prasit said all the company’s food workers have been fully vaccinated and stringent control measures are the only way to ease the situation. CPF strives to continue its safe food production uninterrupted, he said.

Under the bubble and seal measure, the entire supply chain is shielded from negative impacts, which can help Thailand survive this health crisis, said Mr Prasit.

“We are doing everything we can to protect our workers, neighbouring communities to our plants, and consumers,” he said.
