It is the Committee’s objective to apply a structured and transparent process with the aim of encouraging the private sector and fostering competition. The Committee has chosen an international consulting firm, Roland Berger, as Transaction Advisor to administer the Swiss Challenge.
The Tender Committee consists of five members chaired by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications U Kyaw Myo, with Deputy Minister of Planning, Finance & Industry U Sett Aung, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Bharat Singh, Minister of Planning and Finance of the Yangon Regional Government U Ye Min Oo, and the Secretary of Yangon City Development Committee Daw Hlaing Maw Oo as members.

The project received the submission of the EOIs from 16 companies and consortiums including two local companies and two local consortiums.

According to the project’s masterplan, the New Yangon City will be both livable and productive, able to support a 1.2 million population and create around two million jobs. The project includes a logistics component that will connect the new city with nearby cities, to ensure land prices do not drop after the new city is completed.
