Myanmar: IRD spends K3 billion on tax stickers annually: official
The Internal Revenue Department (IRD) has been spending K3 billion annually buying tax stickers from other countries, said Daw Swe Swe Khaing, deputy director of that department.

Local private firms were invited to take part in a tender to import the tax stamps and a selection process is currently ongoing to choose between the three local firms which participated.
In 2014, the IRD began a program requiring restaurants to purchase rolls of stamps, which are then affixed to restaurant receipts to prove to customers they are paying tax. Patrons who buy food at a local restaurant are subject to a 5 percent commercial tax. The individual stamps run from K50 to K10,000 each.
Internal Revenue Department is the department which 80pc of all tax revenues for the country and tax revenue amount is increasing year after year.
Between October 2018 and March this year, the IRD collected K783.5 billion in commercial taxes, representing 35pc of total tax revenues for the period.
