Myanmar Companies Yearbook out
The Myanmar Companies Yearbook, a groundbreaking publication that contains key information about the leading companies in Myanmar, was launched by the FWP Research Co. Ltd in November.
The FWP Research, a Tokyo-based research and survey firm, said it published The Myanmar Companies Yearbook (English version) Vol.1,toimprove the transparency of companies in the country.
The yearbook is priced at US$600 per copy.
FWP said the publication is a must-read for would-be-investorsas it provides valuable insights and background information about the different companies they might be interested in dealing with if they decide to do business in Myanmar.
The yearbook features basic information about the 1,000 leading companies in Myanmar, such as the company name, logo, business activities, industries, main projects, date of DICA registration and establishment, contact numbers,
address, capital, number of employees, location of factories, warehouses and other facilities, list of key executives and list of key shareholders, tax ranking and transparency ranking, among others.
One section focused on 20 famous Myanmar tycoons; how they started their businesses and their rise to success. The featured famous businessmen are AikHtun of ShweTaung Group; AungKo Win of Kanbawza Group; AungThet Mann of Ayer ShweWah,AYSMFG; Chit Khine of Eden Group; HtayMyint of Yuzana Group; HtunMyintNaing aka Steven Law(Asia World Group),KhinMaung Aye(CB Bank,KMA Group),KhinShwe of Zaykabar Group; KoKoGyi of Capital Diamond Star Group; Kyaw Win of Shwe Than Lwin Group; Marlar Win of UMG Myanmar Group; Michael Moe Myint of Myint&Associates,MPRL E&P Group; Nay Aung of IGE,UAB; Sai Sam Htum of Loi Hein Group; Serge Pun aka U TheimWai of SPA,FMI; TayZa of Htoo Group; Thadoe Hein of MyanmmaAwba Group; Win Aung of Dagon International; Win Win Tint of City Mart Holding,Pahtama Group; and ZawZaw of Max Myanmar Group.
Another section titledGovernment Map provides easy to understand guide to cabinet members, political parties, contact addresses for each ministry. It also features detailed list of information concerning cabinet posts and areas of responsibility, and official positions. The information is this section is current as of August 2017. In particular, the guide features cabinet profiles, complete with photograph, official title; name; nationality/religion; date of birth; place of birth; educational attainment; occupation; spouse—information which are not widely publicly available, and will surely be of great importance to foreign visitors seeking details before they meet various important people in Myanmar.
There is also a section titledMyanmar Legal Summary, written by American lawyer Samuel P. Britton, who has stayed in Myanmar for the past five years. It provides explanation on the latest laws in the country. Britton is active in a wide range of areas, and has experience teaching English to Burmese lawyers at the University of Yangon.
The yearbook’s appendix includes Income Tax , Commercial Tax, and TiME Ranking of the companies. In a mixture of English and Burmese, the report publishes information regarding Income Tax, Commercial Tax details of the 1,000 companies, in addition to a detailed business ranking report.
The TiME ranking has been drawn up based on the “PwintThit Sa/TiME report”. The report lists rankings from 2014 until 2016, with detailed information also provided.
The report was printed and published in Japan, and then sent to other countries. Content will also be available on the Web, and a promotional code allowing the use of the service for three months free of charge is included with the publication. The report itself was published in English, but the online materials are available in both Japanese and English.
The Web service is titled FWP Finder, and users can freely search the database using keywords including: business name, address, name of official, and so on. The service can be used to quickly view a summary of group names or group companies, or look up officials and the businesses they are affiliated with by searching their NRC ID. The number of businesses listed on the web service much more than those featured in the report, and with multiple updates a year planned, the information will remain up-to-date. The rate structure once the free of charge use period is over has not been decided yet, and as a result, it is not possible to apply for use only of the FWP Finder.
FWP research is planning the regular publication of the business yearbook and research and planning is underway for the Vol.2. The publication of the yearbook and other investigative work promotes and advances Myanmar’s enterprises, as well as contributing to the continues development of Myanmar’s economy.
