Malaysian unemployment rates drop 0.1pc

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) – The total labour force in November last year was 14.57 million people compared to 14.58 million in the previous month, according to a Statistics Department statement yesterday.

The labour force participation rate in November last year fell 0.1 per cent to 67.9 per cent as compared to the previous month.

Unemployment rate too declined by 0.1 per cent to 3.3 per cent from 508,800 in October to 505,100 in November.

“The year-on-year comparison showed that labour force participation rate in November 2017 rose 0.2 per cent from November 2016, while the unemployment rate was 0.1 per cent lower than November 2016,” the statement said.
