Malaysian Govt Praises Indonesia’s Ease of Investment
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Malaysian Deputy Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Dato Razali stated that Indonesia, under the administration of Jokowi – Jusuf Kalla, appreciates and honors foreign investments and is serious in improving Indonesia’s ease of investments and businesses.
Malaysian FIC Properties Sdn Bhd (FICP), which is a subsidiary of the state’s Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), has acquired 37 percent of Eagle High Plantation (BWPT) in April. The stock acquisition process only took less than four months after the sale purchase agreement (SPA) was signed by both parties on December 23, 2016.
It is considered as the third largest foreign direct investment (FDI) that is worth US$505.4 million.
Razali hopes that the deal will strengthen the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia and also become a momentum to open up future partnerships, especially in the palm oil industry through the council of palm oil producing countries (CPOPC).
“We have witnessed the reform that was initiated by President Jokowi during his early days in office. His policies have shown concrete results, especially in creating a one-stop center at BKPM (Capital Investment Coordinating Board) that reduces the bureaucracy to conduct investments,” said Maruarar Sirait, Commission XI of the House of Representatives.
