Malaysia: Prioritising people in Industry 4.0

PETALING JAYA: The path towards Industry Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) is not confined to just technology and digital transformation.

A vital component of what lies in the future are the people – the way they work, where they work and how they are driving change with technology.

Ken Holdings Bhd  hospitality and arts deputy director Yvonne Tan said it is important to ensure that future workspaces are a holistic one rather than a typical working office.

“Employees of an organisation are the most important component, akin to the arteries that keep the whole system running.

“Moving towards a very digital kind of lifestyle, where almost everything including payments are made digital, the traditional types of office settings may not appeal to the younger generations, ” she said.

Ken Holdings, for example, made it a point to create offices in its commercial building Menara Ken TTDI (pic) to be a holistic one which includes an art gallery, a performing arts theatre and a rooftop gym.

Tan visualises the future of work places to be moving towards the trend of co-working spaces as people start to draw away from the closed door office set up.

“As for larger organisations, the open type of working spaces seem to be the trend these days. People will gear towards the usage of web conferences and many others. I feel this is where technology and work will go hand in hand, ” Tan said.

Being a niche developer, Ken Holdings have been developing green buildings and Menara Ken TTDI is its first commercial building.

Tan said the building features versatile and flexible spaces with flexible walls that allows users the flexibility of opening up the entire floor to get a huge space or close it up to form eight separate rooms.

She added that Menara Ken TTDI also has a very avant garde space which is very minimalist when it comes to decorations.

This will also be the space where Star Media Group holds its People 4.0: The Future of Work conference next Tuesday (Nov 19) from 9am to 5pm.

The event will feature over 20 diverse subject matter experts and game changers who will deliver thought provoking and educational insights on the best practices in workplaces and shaping the future of work.

Ken Holdings is the venue sponsor for the event.

Tickets for the event are priced from RM1,150 per person for a group admission of three and RM1,300 for individual admissions.
