Malaysia: MAHB signs MoU with UiTM for Airport 4.0
MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has signed a three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) to help facilitate its digitalisation Airport 4.0 programme.
MAHB MD Datuk Mohd Badlisham Ghazali said the company aims to improve its capacity as well as employees’ skills with this venture.
“We need to increase our employees’ digital technology readiness, not only regarding its applications, but also understanding customer behaviours including responses on social media.” Mohd Badlisham told reporters at the signing ceremony in Sepang yesterday.
“Once we start to roll out our big data analytics programme, we will need people who know how to analyse the data. This is where UiTM comes in,” he said.
Mohd Badlisham said the company will launch the “My Airport” application for passengers by the end of this month.
The mobile application will help passengers track their movements right from home all the way into the plane, including the estimated time of arrival to the airport.
It can also detect delays at the check-in counters and immigration counters.
MAHB recently introduced the Washroom Response Management System mobile application for its team of cleaners and supervisors to ensure the cleanliness of the washrooms at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The application allows passengers to rate their experiences at the digital feedback panel located in the washrooms, which will then be disseminated to both the ground operations and senior management team for immediate action.
“Our transformation into a service leader has always been part of our five-year business plan, Runway to Success 2020. This is why we welcome Mavcom’s (Malaysian Aviation Commission) initiative to roll out the Quality of Services scheme as it will also contribute towards elevating our service standards at the airport,” Mohd Badlisham said.
“The first phase of KLIA’s digitalisation realisation is slated for the next two years.
“The improvements will significantly enhance the experiences of our passengers as well as all the visitors to our airport.
At the same time, it will support the operations growth,” he added.
MAHB is, meanwhile, preparing for this Friday’s temporary closure of KLIA’s third runway, Runway 3, where it will help support and coordinate the air traffic movements.
The one-month closure is due to maintenance works such as overlaying and the reinstatement of infrastructures which include drainage and earthworks till 3pm on June 7.
