Laos-China Railway Ticketing App is Now Officially Online

The Laos-China Railway Company has kept its promise and brought out its LCR Ticket mobile application online today.

Passengers across the country rushed to test out the new application from the early hours of Wednesday morning, with heavy traffic volume causing the payment system to stall. Nevertheless, social media users have been posting their tickets online, praising the new ticketing app.

“It’s so convenient! Before this app, we had to line up for hours just to get a ticket. Now we can buy tickets from anywhere via our mobile phones,” one social media user commented.

“The app is available in Lao, Chinese, and English, which is great because it means tourists will be able to use it as well,” another social media user posted.

China State Railway Group said in a press release that the system was developed by a subsidiary of the group, “noting that it marks a further step in the informatization process of the China-Laos Railway passenger business.”

But some users have reported that the LCR Ticket mobile app is accessible only in regional app stores, and has yet to appear in many countries.

Similarly, payment methods available in the app include AliPay, WeChat Pay, and UnionPay, while a section marked “VISA” remains greyed out.

Users have reported that after reserving a ticket via the mobile application, passengers must scan a QR code from the app at the railway station in order to receive a physical ticket from the ticket office before boarding a train.

Lao passengers may use their national identity card to register for the app, while foreign passengers can use a passport.

According to the railway operator, passengers will be able to revise their personal information or cancel the reservation prior to departure on the application, if required.

Passengers can download the application on App Store here and Play Store here
