Indonesia’s Digital Competitiveness Improves, Bank Indonesia Says
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Bank Indonesia Governor Doni Primanto Joewono in an event on Wednesday said that the level of Indonesia’s digital competitiveness is currently improving based on the result of the East Ventures Digital Competitiveness Index 2021.
He argues that the widespread adaptation of the digital lifestyle is one of the prominent lessons during the highs and lows of the Covid-19 pandemic in the past couple of years.
“This is reflected in the community’s increasing digital adaptation, the use of technology and information, as well as the increasing public spending on information and communication categories,” Joweono explained in the ‘MuBI Reborn’ event on July 6.
He asserts that the ability to adapt is key in this sector, which has spurred Bank Indonesia to provide better payment services that can push digitalization even further. Joewono said this situation has inspired Bank Indonesia to introduce digital payment services that would better facilitate the public’s needs such as the quick response code Indonesian standard (QRIS) and BI-FAST.
