Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has met with the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Choo Kyung-Ho in Seoul to discuss investment opportunities in electric vehicle (EV) production and tourism.
The two countries are mutually beneficial business partners that complement each other, Pandjaitan said in an Instagram post, noting that Indonesia‘s abundant natural wealth and large market share for EVs are the future for the development of the EV industry and its supporting ecosystem.
He held that Korean companies’ investment in building the entire EV production chain in Indonesia would be a promising business opportunity in the future.
The two sides also talked about the possibility of implementing a Visa on Arrival policy for Indonesian citizens, similar to what Indonesia had obtained from Japan, to ease travel for tourists.
The Indonesian official also expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to attract more investment from the RoK.
He was in a visit to the RoK to attend a high-level meeting commemorating 50 years of the countries’ diplomatic relations./.
