Indonesia: List of 27 Worm-infested Mackerel Brands
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Head of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) Penny Lukito announced the list of 27 canned mackerel products that were tested positive to be tainted by parasitic worms.
BPOM stated that the 27 brands consist of 138 batches of canned mackerels. “As many as 16 products were imported and 11 others are local brands,” said Penny in the press conference yesterday, March 28.

BPOM has released an official instruction to temporarily stop the imports of the canned mackerel products that were tested to be infested with parasitical worms until further tests are conducted. Meanwhile, domestic brands are instructed to stop importing raw materials used in their product.
