Indonesia: Jokowi Attends APEC, ASEAN Summits in Vietnam, the Philippines

TEMPO.COJakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi travels to Vietnam and the Philippines on Friday, November 10. His visit to the two countries is to attend the 2017 APEC Summit and the 31st ASEAN Summit.

“The delegates and I will leave to Da Nang, Vietnam. After that we will proceed to Manila, Philippines,” Widodo said at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, Friday.

In Da Nang, Jokowi will attend the 2017 APEC Summit, which takes place from November 10 to 11. The president said there are five things that Indonesia will fight for:

For development goals, Indonesia aims to eliminate non-tariff barriers for domestic products that contribute to rural development and poverty alleviation. Secondly, Indonesia seeks to narrow the economic gap and create inclusiveness.

“The third is infrastructure development, and the fourth is to prioritize maritime base policy,” said Jokowi.

From Vietnam, Jokowi will head to Manila to attend the 31st ASEAN Summit from November 10 to 14. There, he said, Indonesia will promote efforts to increase cooperation among member states as well as partner countries.

“We hope this visit will provide real benefits for all Indonesians,” he remarked.
