Indonesia: Govt’s OSS issues 7,004 business permits in first month
The government has issued 7,004 business permits through the online single submission (OSS) system within its first month of operation, a senior official said on Thursday.
The OSS data was collated through 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, said Susiwijono, the secretary to the Coordinating Economic Minister. official said.
“We have issued 304 business permits per day, including Saturdays and Sundays,” Susiwijono said in Jakarta, as quoted by kompas.com.
Susiwijono said that most of the 30,505 visitors the OSS website recorded were simply testing it, and were not actually interested in opening a business.
“Most of the visitors were our colleagues who were trying out the OSS system,” he said. Meanwhile, the website had recorded 5,587 visitors, or 243 unique visitors per day, who had successfully obtained commercial/operational licenses.
He also explained that the OSS processing comprised five stages: registration, account activation, business registration number issuance, businesspermit issuance and commercial/operational license issuance.
The government launched the OSS on July 9 in its effort to eliminate red tape in the business licensure process.
The OSS system is currently under the management of the office of the Coordinating Economic Minister while the Investment Coordination Board (BKPM) restructures its organization and personnel to accommodate the new system.
BKPM head Thomas Lembong said the board planned to take over the OSS system in November. (bbn)
