Indonesia: Govt to Announce 15th Economic Policy Package This Afternoon

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The government will announce the 15th economic policy package this afternoon.

“Policy package relating to logistics,” Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said today on the Presidential Palace compound in Jakarta. The government expects the 15th economic policy package to lead to logistics efficiency.

Earlier, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs official Edy Putra Irawady said that an e-commerce roadmap contained in the 14th economic policy package also covered logistics development.

That included the utilization of the national logistics system, as well as enhancement of shipping companies, improvement of SMEs logistics data transfer and logistics development from rural to urban areas.

Moreover, there were six major themes in the logistics sector, namely service providers, infrastructure, distribution centers, e-commerce, regulation unification and vocation. In the upcoming 15th economic policy package, Edy had proposed that the government focuses on regulating service providers or infrastructure.

The economic policy will specifically regulate dwell time. President Joko Widodo had earlier set dwell time target of two days. The average dwell time in Indonesian ports is 2.9 days.
