Indonesia: Govt, DPR To Formulate Draft Law on Integrated Transport System
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Chairman of House Commission V on transportation Fary Djemy Francis appreciated the execution of 2017 Eid homecoming and exodus transport. The smooth flow of Eid transport this year is due to breakthroughs made by government and related stakeholders to anticipate and counter problems.
“Until yesterday, we received a report on 14 to 50 percent of accident decrease,” Fary said in Lampung on Sunday (2/7).
What is important, Fary believes, is that such breakthroughs are not only implemented during Eid period. He expects such initiaves can be developed into routines so that integrated national transport system can be implemented.
Fary said that House of Represetatives and government will formulate draft law on integrated transportation system. “We will discuss this system. We will design the law for the system,” the Gerindra party politician added.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that if there is such a law as integrated transportation system, the government and related stakeholders will have more freedom to develop transportation system. “If we have well-formulated regulation, the evaluation on Eid transport will be easier to do and afterwards we will ask the operator to adjust with our evaluation,” he explained.
