Indonesia: BPS Announces Post Eid Inflation Rate

TEMPO.COJakarta – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded June’s inflation rose 0.69 percent to 4.27 percent compared to the previous month.

BPS chief Suhariyanto said on Monday that June’s inflation rate was affected by electricity tariff adjustments, airfare and city transportation fees, “while food prices were relatively under control.”

For the first semester, the inflation rate was 2.38 percent.

Suhariyanto said that in June almost all prices increases. But food prices only inflated by 0.69 and accounted for 0.14 percent. “Staple food items that usually experience fluctuations like meat and rice remained quite stable this June,” he said. 

Price inflation also happened to household utilities like water, electricity, gas and fuel, which reached 0.75 percent and accounted for 0.18 percent to overall inflation.
