Indonesia: 2022 economic growth target’s lower limit raised to 5.2 percent
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government and the House of Representatives (DPR) have agreed to raise the lower limit of the national economic growth target for 2022 to 5.2 percent, from five percent earlier, according to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
The government and DPR reached the agreement during a working meeting to discuss the basic assumption of macroeconomic growth and the growth target of the draft 2022 state budget (RAPBN) , the minister noted on her personal Instagram account @smindrawati here on Tuesday.
Indrawati stressed that the government remains committed to strengthening the health sector while affirming that reducing the number of COVID-19 cases was instrumental in bringing about national economic recovery.
In addition, the government will continue to stimulate economic activities through various social protection programs for workers and incentives for the business sector, she affirmed.
The endeavors are expected to boost household consumption that serves as one of the engines of economic growth, she noted.
Indrawati remarked that the macroeconomic growth assumption also changed, including the interest rate of 10-year government bonds that touched 6.82 percent, from 6.8 percent.
Based on the 2022 macroeconomic growth assumption, the government set the target for economic growth at 5.2-5.5 percent, inflation rate at three percent, the rupiah’s exchange rate at Rp14,350 per US dollar, and the 10-year government debt papers (SUN) at 6.8 percent.
