Indonesia: Go-Jek Reactivates its QR Code Payment System

TEMPO.COJakarta – Application-based transportation service Go-Jek has reactivated its quick response (QR) Code payments within its digital wallet Go pay services after it had been approved by Bank of Indonesia (BI) mid-April.

Alhamdulillah (Praise to God), the Go-Pay QR code payment method has been approved. Therefore, Go-Pay users can conduct offline transactions using QR code,” said Go-Jek Corporate Affairs Chief Nila Marita on Wednesday, May 2.

The QR code feature was temporarily stopped since February after the company failed to obtain the required BI licenses. Furthermore, Go-Jek plans to officially re-launch this alternative payment feature simultaneously across 11 cities on May 5 – May 13 during the National Go-Food Culinary Day.

Go-Jek offers the QR code payment feature in two types, dynamic and static. However, the dynamic QR code payment method is accepted to be the safest option compared to the static method.

“The dynamic QR code will later on replace Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machines,” said Nila Marita.

The Go-Jek company will invite roughly 7,000 partnering traders and culinary outlets from various regions in the upcoming Go-Food culinary festival where 3,000 of them will adopt the QR code payment system.
