Eaton Sets Eyes on Indonesia’s Data Center
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Global power management company Eaton offers to accommodate Indonesia’s emerging data center and energy storage resources industry. Eaton will make Indonesia as one of its priority countries for solutions.
The company plans to implement its newest technologies in Indonesia, including managing the data center of the future.
This step is in line with the government’s ambition to make Indonesia as one of the world’s largest digital economy by 2020.
“Eaton wishes to help in power management, providing reliable, efficient and environmentally sustainable methods,” Eaton’s vice president for East Asia Jimmy Yam said in Jakarta yesterday.
Jimmy said that with a growing digital world, Indonesia must be able to manage power consumption to ensure sustainable power availability. Reliable power management can help government efforts in increasing domestic electricity and internet usage.
Eaton’s data center is already used by big companies like Facebook in the United States and Alibaba in China.
In addition to data centers, smart cities and the Internet of Things (IoT) will require ample and sustainable power distribution. Eaton offers a solution by distributing power through what they call a Smart Grid, which distributes power to homes, buildings, to factories in more secure and efficient ways.
Eaton cannot say when they will build a data center in Indonesia. However, the company has been providing power management solutions in the country since 1980 and offering electrical solutions since 2007.
