Cambodia, Thailand Plan Temporary Opening of Border Crossing

Cambodia and Thailand are planning temporary opening of a crossing along Stung Bot of Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province and Thailand’s Ban Nong Ian area in Sa Kaeo province.

The news was shared in a meeting between H.E. Heng Rathpisidh, Cambodia’s Director General of Public Works General Department, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and Mr. Apichart Junratasup, Deputy Director of Expressway of Thailand.

H.E. Heng Rathpisidh underlined that the opening of the new border gate will facilitate goods transportation between the two neighbours.

The director general also asked the Thai side to speed up related processing with concerned institutions in order to kick-start the operation of the border crossing.

According to Mr. Apichart Junratasup, the processing work will last about 12 months; however, he expressed his optimism of the future existence of the border gate.
