Cambodia: Market Capitalisation fell by 22 percent in Q1 2020
The Capital Market saw a 22 per cent drop capitalisation in the first quarter of the year, bringing the market capitalisation to around $544million, compared with the fourth quarter of 2019.
The total trading volume was at 0.56million shares, valued at $0.97million. SECC said that the trading volume dropped around 86 per cent and the trading share prices fell 69 per cent in Q1, 2020, compared with Q4, 2019.
From January to March in 2020, the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSP)’s share trading activities were the most active, accounting for 33 percent of the total number of shares traded.
It said that the number of purchase placements and sales orders was around 7.62 million shares. The sales had order reached 3.86million shares while purchasing orders were at 3.76million shares during the said period. The amount of purchasing order had increased to 65 per cent but the amount of sales order had dropped by about 17 per cent in Q1,2020, compared with Q4, 2019.
In addition, the number of investors to place buy orders and sales was at 634, a rise of about 20 per cent in Q1, 2020. The investors who place the buy and sales orders are mostly Cambodians, who represented 71 per cent, Japanese investors at 14 per cent and Chinese investors at nine per cent while the remaining consisted of other investors.
