Cambodia: Grab launches new safety features
Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading everyday app, today announced GrabProtect, a comprehensive set of safety and hygiene tech features and stricter safety policies to minimise risks of the spread of COVID-19. As part of the programme launch, Grab distributed care packs comprising rice, drinks and hygiene essentials to 5,000 of its ride-hailing drivers in Phnom Penh.
“Everyone has a shared responsibility to ensure the health and wellbeing of the community. At Grab, we want to set a higher standard for ride-hailing services. This includes mandatory mask-wearing for drivers, health reminders for drivers and passengers before booking
a ride, and the ability to feedback to Grab if either party is unwell,” said Sothy Puy, head of pperations for Grab Cambodia.
The measures include: new technology-enabled features to ensure higher safety standards.
Grab is rolling out a new in-app feature for its driver-partners: an online health and hygiene declaration form. As part of the new Grab driver app feature, drivers need to declare the following before they can start driving: that they do not exhibit COVID-19 symptoms; have adopted the necessary safety and hygiene measures; Hhave not had close contact with a COVID-19 patient in the last 14 days.
To verify that drivers maintain hygiene standards, they will also be required to submit a selfie of themselves wearing a face mask.
