Cambodia Angkor Air (K6) reiretates readiness in overcoming challenges

The National Flag Carrier, Cambodia Angkor Air (K6) has said that it has well prepared its resources to immediately resume operations when the pandemic is under control.

The global aviation industry is hard hit by COVID-19 pandemic and airlines around the world are facing the most toughest time in its history. As such, Cambodian Aviation or Cambodia Angkor Air isn’t exceptional. The low market demand and other negative factors have impacted the airline’s operations.

The National Flag Carrier, Cambodia Angkor Air was established in 2009 by the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC). Since then, the airline has gradually grown and successfully developed to contribute to Cambodian tourism, culture, investment and economy.

The airline company said that from 2018, K6 has implemented its shareholders restructuring in order to strengthen the resources for the strategic development plan both in network and fleet. This is a common practice worldwide. The restructuring plan was well prepared and submitted to RGC for consideration and approval.

“The process of restructuring is strictly in line with applicable Cambodian law and obligation with a view to protect and preserve the interest of the Nation and its people,” it said. “However, with the support from the RGC, State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), its partners in aviation industry, K6 continues its presence in the market,” according to the airline company.

Currently, K6 is the only carrier to operate regular domestic network, linking Phnom Penh  with others main cities of Cambodia like Siem Reap and Sihanouk Ville.
