Brunei passport remains 3rd powerful in ASEAN

Brunei passport maintains its rank as 3rd powerful in ASEAN, according to CEOWORLD magazine’s Global Passport Ranking for 2020

Brunei Darussalam’s passport ranks as the 49th most powerful globally, while also third in Asean and 10th in the Asia-Pacific, enabling its citizens to travel visa-free to a 166 countries or destinations, according to ranking provider CEOWORLD Global Passport Ranking for 2020.

Japan’s passport is the world’s most powerful, with 191 free access, followed by Singapore, South Korea, Germany, Italy, and Finland. Afghanistan finished at the bottom, with just 26 countries granting Afghans entry, without obtaining an advance visa.

Global Passport Ranking, compiled by the magazine, ranks the passports of 193 countries and six other territories by counting the number of countries each passport can access without an advance visa.

In the 2020 Henley Passport Index and Global Mobility Report published last month, the Sultanate was ranked 23rd globally, third in Asean and 9th in the Asia-Pacific with a visa-free/visa-on-arrival score of 166.

The Bruneian passport is also regarded as one of the biggest winners in the Global Passport Index, achieving the best net score for nine visa waivers gained or lost last year, and one of the fastest-growing passports for 2019.

These findings were also published last month in a report by the Passport Index, a leading global mobility intelligence platform.

The report also found that Brunei has the 16th most powerful passport worldwide, with a Mobility Score of 153, giving its citizens the ability to travel visa-free to a total of 153 countries or destinations.
