MPRT urges private sector to develop eco-tourism

Thursday, August 4, 2016 – THE Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism has urged the private sector to build the infrastructure needed to attract more tourists to the sultanate. In an interview with The Brunei Times, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Hj Ali Hj Apong said Brunei’s pristine rainforest has the potential to draw in ecotourists, expand the tourism sector and reduce the country’s dependence on the oil and gas industry. He said entrepreneurs, for instance, can build lodging houses to accomodate more tourists. “These tourists who come here would need rooms to stay for few nights as they will bring along their family members. They can come to Brunei and heal (from work stress) by enjoying the rainforest that we have here,” YB Dato Seri Setia Hj Ali said. Read More?
