Bank Indonesia Calls on Gojek to Stop QR Code Payment System

TEMPO.COJakarta – App-based ride-hailing service Go-Jek complied with the request of Bank Indonesia to stop the company`s trial of the QR-based electronic payment.

“Bank Indonesia has recently asked Go-Pay to end the trial period. We are currently obeying the request,” said Go-Pay Chief of Compliance Officer Budi Gandasoebrata in a press release on Tuesday, January 16.

Go-Jek trial tested their QR-based Go-Pay system in September 2017 to ensure that the technology being implemented complies with the regulation.

Bank Indonesia asked Go-Pay to stop their QR code payment feature since it does not comply with the Bank Indonesia regulation No. 18/40/PBI/2016 on the Implementation of a Payment Transaction Process.

The central bank deemed the feature has entered the product launch phase, while the permit Go-Jek obtained was limited to a test trial.
