TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The trilateral partnership forum of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, is currently discussing on strengthening the services of halal products in the ASEAN region and a mutually beneficial economic improvement.
Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said that the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand growth triangle (IMT-GT) forum is a strategic moment to build an alliance between three countries in order to strengthen the cooperation of halal product services development in ASEAN.
He said that the Working Group of Halal Product Services (WG-Hapas) is essential since halal products have become a necessity for the global society today, considering that it isn’t exclusively for Muslims but also for a larger portion of society.
“The Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand growth triangle is present as a classic growth triangle which is marked with an economic that completes each other, a close-proximity geographical location, and Historical, cultural and linguistic relationships,” said Lukman Hakim, related to the Halal products discussion.
