Indonesia: Number of Homecoming Travelers by Plane Increases 11.57 Percent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The number of homecoming travelers by plane on the second day of Eid al-Fitr increases by 11.57 percent. 

Transportation Ministry secretary-general Sugihardjo said today that the increase was attributable to two things: stronger people’s purchasing power and infrastructure development.

In addition, the number has increased owing to extra flights offered by airlines.

“More frequent flights were possible due to increased airport capacity… and longer operating hours,” Sugihardjo said.

Furthermore, the Transportation Ministry has made preparations ahead of increased traffic as people return to their workplace by land, sea, air transport for safe and comfortable travel.
