Brunei: Future Development of SMEs

The Future development of Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs can contribute to stronger and more equitable growth for the nation. The importance of unleashing the potential of SMEs, Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, AMBD will continue to collaborate with relevant stake-holders to ensure a conducive environment for SME development by acting appropriately and effectively through the whole-of-nation approach. Yesterday, forum on Future Development of SMEs in ASEAN was held during The International Banking Conference, IBC 2017 which was held at The Empire Hotel and Country Club.

The forum was chaired by Doctor Joyce Teo, the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Global Affairs), Universiti Brunei Darussalam.  Amongst the panel were Doctor Arif Anwar, Executive Director of Sengenics Brunei Sdn Bhd; Ms. Biruntha L. Mooruthi, the Vice President of PlaTCOM, Ventures Sdn Bhd, Malaysia; Mr. Mohd bin Atan, the Director of Economic and Policy of SME Corp. Malaysia. Among the discussion was how to differentiate good ideas and bad ideas and also how to put those ideas into successful product.  Market driven solution and identifying your market was also discussed during the Forum. The conference was attended by more than 100 participants including financial regulators, industry players and local SMEs.
