Malaysia: Stats Dept launches economic monitoring system
KUALA LUMPUR: The Statistics Department launched the economic monitoring system on Thursday which presents in a dashboard-style of graphical display of the current economic situation based on selected key indicators.
The department said on Thursday the dashboard contains eight key economic indicators, which are gross domestic product (GDP), employment, commodities, prices, manufacturing, services, international trade and balance of payments.
These indicators are presented in an interactive visualisation of monthly, quarterly and annual time series.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the Malaysia Economic Monitoring Dashboard allows the public to monitor the country’s current economic situation.
The Government takes various measures in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, including the latest announcement of PEMULIH, a comprehensive aid to ease the impact of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
“The concern among the public on the current economic situation is rising, especially since the MCO 3.0.
“Hence, the department offers this interactive platform to monitor the current economic situation and at the same time to increase the literacy of statistics among the public, ” he said.
Mohd Uzir said the dashboard contains eight key indicators and 27 sub-indicators divided into nine main modules; overall and eight key indicators.
The overall module presents a quick overview of all key indicators current performance, while other modules display the respective indicators and sub-indicators performance.
