Indonesia: BPS Records Inflation at 0.09 Percent in April
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that inflation rate in April was at 0.09 percent due to adjustment to non-subsidized 900 VA electricity tariff.
As such, inflation of the calendar year (January-April 2017) was at 1.28 percent and year-on-year inflation in April was 4.17 percent.
The inflation was due to price increases in food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco of 0.12 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel of 0.93 percent; clothing of 0.49 percent; health of 0.08 percent; education, recreation and sports of 0.03 percent; and transportation, communication and financial services of 0.27 percent.
Meanwhile, 1.13 percent deflation occurred in food ingredients.
