Dept of Foreign Trade organizes business networking between Thailand & Cambodia
BANGKOK, 17 July 2018 (NNT) – Thailand’s Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) is introducing new Thai entrepreneurs to Cambodian businesses in Phnom Penh to create opportunities for trade with neighboring countries. The department is confident that the program will result in purchase orders worth at least 220 million baht.
The delegation of over 100 Thai entrepreneurs come from the industries of plastics and packaging, consumer goods, construction materials and service products. They attended the networking program to hear testimonials from Thai businesses that have met with success in the Cambodian market, as well as to engage in businesses negotiations with over 120 Cambodian firms.
DFT Director-General, Adul Chotinisakorn, expressed confidence that the negotiations will result in at least 220 million baht in immediate sales. He touted the event as an opportunity for both countries to foster stronger relationships. The program has organized four previous events for a total of 1,100 businesses, which have generated 2.8 billion baht in commercial activity.
Adul added that his department will organize another activity at the end of the month to bring together participants of all previous networking events and to promote border trade. The DFT aims for Thailand to achieve 1.5 trillion baht in border trade value.
