Brunei: July car sales fall by 24.7 per cent
Tuesday, 16 August 2016 – CAR sales fell by 24.7 per cent in July from the previous month, according to the latest statistics from the Brunei Automobile Traders Association (BATA), despite a strong showing from newer models.
In the monthly report from BATA, a total of 1,059 passenger and commercial vehicles were sold in July 2016 compared to 1,407 in the previous month.
On a year-on-year basis, sales fell by 6.9 per cent from 1,137 units in July 2015. As of July 2016, a total of 7,458 units have been sold.
An industry insider said that while SUV?s have performed relatively well, the numbers are not significant enough to boost overall sales.
?While some newer models are getting sales, others are not really getting the same response,? he said.
Meanwhile, cars in the 1,301-1,500cc category are the most popular among buyers in July 2016 with sales of 272 units, while four-wheel drive vehicles in the 1,000-2,000cc category managed to hold the second spot with sales of 189 units.?Read More?
