10 Priorities to Actualize Indonesia’s Industry 4.0

TEMPO.COJakarta – The government, trough the Industry Minister Airlangga Hartanto has set 10 national priorities for the program entitled Making Indonesia 4.0; an integrated roadmap to implement a number of strategies.

“We can’t avoid the initiatives of the fourth industrial revolution [industrial revolution 4.0],” said Airlangga during an Indonesia Employers Association (Apindo) dialogue held at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Central Jakarta today, April 24.

Here are the 10 priorities set by Industry Minister Airlangga Hartanto:

1. The first priority is to fix the flow of materials to strengthen material production at the upstream level.

2. Redesigning the industrial zone by building a map for the national industrial zone and to overcome the problems that are faced by several industrial zones.

3. Accommodating the sustainability standard through the global sustainability trend such as electric powered vehicles (EV), biofuel, and renewable energy sources.

4. Empowering the 3.7 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through technological fundings.

5. Building a national digital infrastructure supported by a 5G network, necessary fiber optics, and data centers for the development of the national digital economy.

6. Attracting foreign investments by targeting renowned global manufacturing companies through the attractive incentives offering to accelerate the transfer of technology.

7. Improving the quality of Indonesia’s human resources by redesigning the academic curriculum that is adjusted to the industry 4.0.

8. Forming an innovation-based ecosystem through the development of a research, development, and demonstration center by joint efforts from the government, private sector, public, and universities.

9. Introducing incentives for technological investments such as tax exemptions or subsidies for the adoption of certain technologies.

10. Lastly, to realize the fourth industrial revolution is the harmonization of regulations and policies.
