Thailand: Google offers SMEs free website help

Google Thailand has launched a tool to help businesses of all sizes in Thailand create free, mobile-optimised websites in minutes called “GMB Websites”.

Some 83% of small businesses in Thailand have physical structures, such as shops, restaurants or opticians, but all businesses need to connect with customers wherever they are, said Mike Jittivanich, head of marketing for Google Thailand.

Being found on Google Search and Maps is a good start, but a website is where businesses can learn the most. Yet only 13% of Thai businesses have an online presence, meaning they are missing out on potential customers, he said.

“Small business owners tell us that building a website is complex, expensive and time-consuming. That’s why we’ve introduced a new simple, free and fast way to build a website through Google My Business,” said Mr Mike.

Users can get a free domain from Google or buy one with Google Domains from Google My Business. The site enables users to manage everything in one place with a dashboard on desktop, mobile or the Google My Business app.

Two local businesses that have already found success with Google My Business websites are Lydia’s “Cafe Reverie” and Matthew’s “Khongsittha Muay Thai”. To create a website for free, visit http://bit.do/GMBWebsite.
