Malaysian SME traders, entrepreneurs urged to capitalise on ministry’s programme

SANDAKAN (BERNAMA) – Small and medium enterprise (SME) traders and entrepreneurs should seize the opportunity to market their products through the Product Transformation Programme undertaken by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.

Malaysian Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Rosol Wahid said the initiative was introduced to help SME traders and entrepreneurs to enable their products grab the attention of customers in local and foreign-owned supermarkets.

“The ministry calls on traders and entrepreneurs to grab the opportunity to meet with officials under the ministry to obtain information on how to promote their products. We have partnered with supermarkets and shopping malls to provide attractive places for them to showcase SME products that can easily grab the attention of buyers,” he told reporters after launching the Sandakan-level Buy Malaysia Campaign (KBBM) and the Malaysian Sales Programme (PJM).

Rosol said through the programme, SME traders and entrepreneurs will be given assistance and guidance in terms of packaging and product labelling so that their products are more attractive and meet the standards to penetrate the supermarkets.

On the KBBM and PJM, he said the response to the purchase of made-in Malaysia products was very encouraging since it was launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in July.

He said the ministry also plans to expand the campaign abroad.
