Indonesia: Startup Policy Based on The Principles of Justice: Tax Official

TEMPO.COJakarta – Director General of Taxation Ken Dwijugiasteadi said that the startup taxing scheme continuous to be progressively discussed and will be arranged according to the principles of justice and will heavily consider the aspect of proportionality.

“That is what we are still discussing with numerous people,” said Ken on Friday, October 6.

Startup companies will eventually receive a special treatment in the policy that will regulate taxation mechanism for e-commerce companies. Even though the policy is meant to specifically optimize tax revenues from e-commerce, the Directorate General of Taxation wants to continue to preserve the industry’s growth.

Ken claimed that the policy will only need to wait for the government approval before the end of this week. He asserted the importance of this policy which is needed to reach out to the sectors that have not contributed optimally for the state income.

A research by Google and Temasek last year suggested that e-commerce growth in Indonesia will grow significantly and will become 52 percent of Southeast Asia’s e-commerce market share valued at US$ 46 billion.
