Indonesia: Minister Sees Shifting in Trading Transaction Pattern

TEMPO.COJakarta – Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita explains that there has been a shifting in the pattern of trading transactions recently. The ministry reminded that the rapid shifting on both buyers and sellers must be immediately anticipated by the business makers.

“The lifestyle is shifting from offline to online, people used to walk to the nearest store to buy food, now [they] just need to press a button on their gadgets to do that,” said Enggartiasto during the Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s national coordination meeting today, October 3.

The shifting in the transaction pattern is currently under the spotlight of many countries around the world. The international community focused on opening a broad access for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to sell their products.

However, Minister Enggartiasto will take cautious measures in opening the access of the domestic market to SMEs globally. He reasons that domestic SMEs will have a difficult time competing with the overall quality of foreign products.
