Cambodia: Multi-purpose investment project proposed in Koh Kong province

nco Import Export Co Ltd has proposed its multi-purpose investment project on more than 6,000 hectares in Koh Kong province.
Officials from the Ministry of Environment and Koh Kong Provincial Administration made a recent inspection visit to the location proposed by the company in Botum Sakor National Park in Botum Sakor and Kiri Sakor districts.
According to the information posted on the administration’s Facebook page, Anco Import Export Co Ltd has proposed to invest in a multi-purpose project covering 6,145 hectares in Botum Sakor National Park.
A delegation led by Ouk Pheaktra, deputy governor of Koh Kong province, and Sok Kheng Norin, under-secretary of state of the Ministry of Environment, inspected the proposed location of Anco Import Export Company late last month.
Provincial officials could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
Pheaktra said in the post that he supports the Anco Import Export’s proposed investment project, which selected Koh Kong province for its multi-purpose investment.
“The project will create jobs for local people and attract more local and foreign investors to Koh Kong,” Pheaktra was quoted as saying.
“In case the company receives permission in principle from the government, the company must implement the project according to its action plan in accordance with the time limit of the law to avoid leaving the land vacant,” he said.
The company shall minimise the impact on biodiversity and the environment through existing measures and take into account the standards of green areas in development projects, Pheaktra added.
Koh Kong province has attracted major investment projects such as Dara Sakor Airport, a deep sea port, National Road 48, National Road 10, among other development projects, he said.
The company’s name is related to the Anco Groups, a local conglomerate company having six companies –Anco Brothers, Crown Resorts, Anco Electronic Power, KH Electronic Power, Anco Specialized Bank and Anco Webmail.
