Cambodia: Cellcard, Ministry of Commerce partner to launch hotline for Red Zone online shoppers

To make it easier for people living in Phnom Penh’s Red Zones to shop through the Ministry of Commerce’s online site (shop.moc.gov.kh), Cellcard has partnered with the Ministry of Commerce to provide a customer service hotline on the internet.

The new hotline is designed to deal with concerns voiced by people in the Red Zones about access to food supplies.

A ceremony to mark the event took place yesterday between Ministry of  Commerce Secretary of State Pao Heng Dara and Laszlo Barta of Cellcard.

The launch of the hotline will take place soon and will be made public via the Ministry of Commerce’s Facebook page.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said recently that he will end the lockdown in Phnom Penh and other provinces, but some small areas with a high risk of infections will remain under restrictions.

The Prime Minister’s announcement was in response to a Facebook user asking him about the situation after the May 5 deadline set for Phnom Penh and Takmao cityto reopen  following three weeks of lockdown.

Phnom Penh and Takhmao city in Kandal province have been divided into Yellow, Orange and Red Zones, with the latter being the most restrictive.

“There is no reason to continue to close it. We will reopen provinces or the capital. [We] can close small areas where there is a high risk of infections,” the PM said.

“Ongoing lockdowns are compulsory to reduce the infection and deaths of our people. Please understand a common difficulty faced by the nation,” he added.
