Belaws’ entry into the Cambodian market became official last week after it signed a partnership agreement with Confluences, a Cambodia-based company that specialises in international business development.

Belaws co- founder and CEO Vincent Birot said Cambodia’s location and potential figured heavily in their decision to do business in the Kingdom.

“Cambodia was a logical expansion for us due to its proximity to the Thai market and our good existing relationship with Confluences,” Mr Birot said.

“Following our discussions with corporate clients based in Cambodia, we identified a bottleneck encountered by most of the businesses: the expertise in each practice is dispersed between law firms,” he pointed out.

Belaws, according to him, aims to become the one-stop service for legal, corporate, accounting and tax services in Cambodia. “With Belaws, Cambodian companies will have direct access to pre-vetted expert lawyers and professionals at fixed prices through a digital platform,” he said.

“Our presence in neighbouring countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore will help Cambodian companies to rationalise their expansion and operation costs abroad. Thanks to our partnership with the market entry and incubator firm Confluences, foreign companies wishing to invest in Cambodia will benefit from a single point of entry,” Mr Birot added.

Soreasmey Ke Bin, managing partner at Confluences, said they are glad to partner with Belaws.

“Belaws is a formidable tool that will facilitate a lot of our work regarding company registration and other administrative tasks so that we can focus on what we do best: business development,” he said.

In its website, Belaws describes itself as “the first of its kind legal tech platform disrupting the international law firms models to increase value for both clients and lawyers.”

The firm prides itself in using digital technologies to deliver its services. Belaws already has a presence in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
