Cambodia: Five enterprises get ministry awards

Five local enterprises were granted S5 productivity awards by the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft to encourage them to be productive and globally competitive.

The awards were given to enterprises based on their applications and after passing inspections carried out by the ministry, said Heng Eang, director of the National Productivity Center at the ministry.

According to Mr. Eang, 10 enterprises had applied to be considered for the productivity awards but only five met all the requirements.

“Enterprises that receive S5 productivity awards can export their products to other Asean countries, as these awards are recognized regionally,” he said.

Mr. Eang said the S5 productivity awards would also enhance enterprises, especially those in the food sector, to apply for safety standards ranging from good manufacturing practices to hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) and ISO 22001.

“Most food factories that have implemented a HACCP system are also ISO 22001 certified,” he said.

Heng Sengly, general manager of Park Café, one of the enterprises that received the S5 productivity awards, said his company has made positive changes in terms of sanitation and hygiene and work productivity.

“In general the S5 standards and requirements will enable our company to be recognized regionally and also globally.”
