Brunei: Ensure credit/debit card authorised for online use, MTIC advises

The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) through the e-Government National Centre (EGNC) expressed appreciation for public cooperation in using their online services.

To ensure the online process runs smoothly and to update the documents, it is advisable for the public to facilitate the online payment process by ensuring the credit/debit card that is to be used is first authorised by their bank for online use and linked to an active bank account.

From April 1-12, 2020, the Land Transport Department (JPD) of the MTIC received 1,000 applications for renewal of vehicle licences, and 1,100 applications for renewal of driving licences through the TransportBN mobile application as well as the official government portal www.gov.bn.

Of these, a number of applications failed due to declined online payments, insufficient funds or cardholder not being authorised.

Individuals also need to have an e-Darussalam account prior to using the online services provided by the government. The duration for the Darussalam hotline to activate the e-Darussalam account after a complete application is received via WhatsApp or email is two days.

Contact Darussalam hotline at 123 for queries regarding online services.
