Thailand – Somkid: Q1 GDP ‘not good’, Q2 will be worse
Thailand’s economic performance in the first quarter was not good and the current quarter will be worse as the nation faces the full impact of the coronavirus pandemic, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said on Friday.
The key economic drivers of exports and tourism were weak as the global economy was not good, so the government needed to boost the domestic economy, he told a news briefing.
He did not give specific forecasts. Official first-quarter gross domestic product data will be released on May 18.
