Singapore: Employers to get S$2.2b in Jobs Support Scheme payouts from June 30
FROM June 30, a total of S$2.2 billion will be disbursed to 140,000 employers in Jobs Support Scheme (JSS) payouts. This will go towards supporting the wages of over two million local employees.
To qualify for the payout, employers would have to have made mandatory Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions for their local employees from January to March 2021 by the stipulated deadlines. This will then determine the amount of JSS payouts provided.
Employers with PayNow Corporate as at June 25 or have existing GIRO arrangements with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) can expect to receive the payouts from June 30. Otherwise, employers will receive their cheques from July 5.
IRAS may ask employers to conduct a self-review of CPF contributions for January to March, and provide supporting documents to prove their eligibility for the JSS payouts. In such cases, the payouts will only be disbursed after the review is completed.
In this round of payouts, employers in the aerospace, aviation and tourism sectors will receive 50 per cent of support for the first S$4,600 of gross monthly wages paid in those months.
Other employers in sectors like arts and entertainment, food services, land transport, marine and offshore, retail and built environment, will receive 30 per cent of support.
In all other sectors, employers will receive 10 per cent of wage support. This will exclude those in biomedical sciences, precision engineering, electronics, financial services, information and communications technology, media, postal and courier, online retail, and supermarkets and convenience stores.
With this tranche, more than S$26.7 billion would have been disbursed since the introduction of the JSS scheme in February last year, according to IRAS and the Ministry of Finance’s joint statement on Tuesday.
