Singapore Airlines joins tourism drive
Singapore Airlines is the latest strategic partner of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as the agency seeks to promote travel here.
A memorandum of understanding signed yesterday by the leaders of the two parties sets a goal of attracting traffic to Thailand from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa.
TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn said the deal represents a renewed push for tourism cooperation between the TAT and strategic partners in key source markets around the world.
The accord with Singapore Airlines is the fifth of its kind signed by the TAT with international carriers, following deals with Etihad, Emirates, FlyDubai and EVA, according to officials.
The TAT is expected to shortly establish a similar agreement with Qatar to complete the airline partnership strategy, which covers long-haul destinations that account for about a third of Thailand’s overall arrival count. The Singapore Airlines partnership, which runs from yesterday to March 2019, includes a series of joint activities such as promotional campaigns, familiarisation trips and joint roadshows, according to a Singapore Airlines release.
Singapore Airlines operates 35 weekly flights to Bangkok, while subsidiary SilkAir offers 35 weekly flights to Phuket, 14 weekly flights to Koh Samui and five weekly flights to Chiang Mai.
