Philippines: Philippines bank challenges Bangladesh Bank to sue over heist

Friday, 5 August 2016 – A Philippines bank that was used as a conduit by cyber criminals to transfer US$81mil (RM326.21mil) from the Bangladesh central bank’s account at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Aug 5 challenged Bangladesh Bank to take it to court.

The unknown hackers tried to steal nearly US$1bil (RM4.03bil) from the Bangladesh Bank account between Feb 4 and Feb 5, and succeeded in transferring US$81mil (RM326.21mil) to four accounts at Rizal Commercial Banking Corp (RCBC) in Manila. Read More?
