Malaysia imposes new entry policies
Bruneians entering Malaysia from June 1 have to pay for the mandatory 14-day
hotel quarantine.
Non-Malaysians entering the country, including permanent resident pass holders, will have to foot the full cost of hotel accommodation when they are quarantined upon arrival.
Malaysians have to pay half of the accommodation with the government subsidising the other half.
The full cost of quarantine is RM150 (BND48.87) per day.
The total cost for 14 days is RM2,100 (BND684).
The Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam in a letter dated May 25, 2020 stated that from June 1, 2020, the Malaysian Government will impose a new policy for all entering Malaysia through the International Entry Point (PMA).
Every Malaysian citizen must bear 50 per cent of the cost of the quarantine (maximum rate of RM150 per person per day) while full payment will be made by non-citizen individuals.
The duration for the quarantine is 14 days or any period stipulated by the Ministry of Health of Malaysia.
The statement added that following the new policy, individuals planning to enter Malaysia (by air/land/sea) starting June 1, 2020, from Brunei Darussalam are required to fill and sign the Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity (LoU).

Individuals must also obtain a Letter of Approval from the High Commission of Malaysia in Brunei Darussalam.
Applicants must submit the completed and signed LoU with a copy of the passport via email to the High Commission of Malaysia in Brunei Darussalam at least three days before the date of travel.

Subject to approval, the High Commission of Malaysia will issue the Letter of Permission to Enter Malaysia via email to the applicants.
The approval letter from the High Commission of Malaysia must be presented during the check-in process and immigration checks at the airport/ferry terminals/immigration control posts. Failure to do so may cause denial of entry into Malaysia.
For Brunei smart card identity holders, approval from the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam to leave the country must be obtained before the application to enter Malaysia can be considered by the High Commission of Malaysia. Individuals may submit the application with supporting documents (such as official documents for the reason of travel, flight ticket, copy of current passport and IC) by filling the online form found at https://www.form.gov bn/TravelApplicationA/Pages/Travel-ApplicationForm.aspx.
Individuals must attach the approval from the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam when submitting the application to enter Malaysia.
To enter Sarawak, the High Commission of Malaysia can only consider the applications from those who obtained approval from the State Disaster Management Committee.
